Our youngest patrons were treated to a great new experience with a Stuffed Animal Sleepover at the Del Mar Library. Children dropped off their favorite “stuffies” leaving them for an overnight in the library, where they read books, played cards, and cuddled together with a bedtime video! Families were able to check Instagram stories to see what activities were happening throughout the evening. The next morning the stuffies were picked up by their human families.
The Stuffed Animal Sleepover was piloted in Del Mar by Youth Services Librarian Emily Thayer after she was inspired by other librarians hosting their own library sleepovers. She wanted to bring engaging programming for children during a time when in-person events and activities have been suspended. Other SDCL branches inspired by the success of the event at the Del Mar Library will do their own similar programming. Emily hopes to have another Stuffed Animal Sleepover in 2022!
